Canva Pro – Is It Worth It?

If you haven’t tried Canva yet, you’re missing out! It has become one of my favorite design tools for creating and organizing amazing things to post, quickly and easily. I use it for products, graphics and my Instagram feed. You can use Canva for free, but you may have noticed the “Pro” version of Canva and be wondering… is Canva Pro worth it?

Is Canva Pro worth it

When deciding which programs to invest in for your blog or business, you really need to think about how much you’ll use the program and how it’s going to benefit you. Investing in something like Canva Pro can really take you to the next level and set you apart from other creators. In such a saturated market, it’s all about standing out these days. So the question is…

Is Canva Pro Worth It?

My answer to that question is 100% YES, and I thought I’d fill you in on all the reasons why it is and why I think you should upgrade.

What is Canva Pro?

Canva Pro is the paid version of Canva – an online design program where you can create anything and everything you could think of – Instagram posts, Instagram stories, social media banners, videos, GIFs, logos and print material. It’s a drag-and-drop editor where you start with a blank canvas (or one of their pre-made templates) and drag and drop your own photos, text, colors and graphics into it. You can save what you create in all the different file types (eg. PNG, JPG, PDF) and keep everything organized in your account.

What are the benefits of it?

Canva Pro has many benefits compared to the free version of Canva. With free Canva, you do have lots of graphics, fonts and stock photos to choose from however you may have noticed a little crown symbol next to a lot of things you’ve wanted to use but were unable to… these things are only available to Canva Pro users. Let’s go through what you’re missing out on.

Fonts

First and foremost, fonts! The fonts you choose can make or break your design, so the more you have to choose from the better!

Not only do you have a wider selection of fonts to choose from, you can also upload your own fonts with Canva Pro. So if you download any fonts from sites such as Dafont.com, or purchase fonts from Creative Market or even here at Blog Pixie, you can upload them to your account and start typing!

Elements

Canva has so many different graphics you can use to style your creations beyond the text. Whether it be icons, illustrations, sparkles or frames, their library of graphics is incredible. Once again, there are elements that are only available for Canva Pro users, so if you want complete access and to have everything that’s available at your finger tips, you need to upgrade.

Stock Photos

Stock photos can be so helpful when creating images for Instagram or your blog posts. It’s hard to find the time and props needed to create your own photos so using stock imagery is so much more convenient. The stock photos you can use for free at Canva are good… but the ones available in the Pro version are so much better!

I’ve compiled a few of my favorite Canva Pro photos below. Imagine how good your blog graphics and banners would be with these images…

Branding

There’s this thing on Canva Pro called Brand Kit, where you can upload your logos, fonts and color palette to one spot. When creating content, you can easily grab your branding elements from this location to use. This is so helpful to keep everything you do on-brand. No need to spend any more time looking for your color codes! It will be all there ready for you.

Storage

You know how quickly the storage on your phone and computer gets taken up with your photos and files… Canva Pro gives you a huge 100GB of storage. Basically you’re never going to run out of space. Canva Free only gives you 1GB so that’s a big difference!

With Canva Pro you also get unlimited folders to organize your designs, whereas with Canva Free you only get one.

Other Tools

There are so many other things Canva Pro can do that free Canva can’t. This includes the ability to create templates, download your designs with transparent backgrounds, resize them for different platforms and create animations. All sorts of things you may find useful.

Why should I try it?

I really think you’ll enjoy Canva Pro. When I was using the free version, there was nothing worse than going to use a particular font or graphic and receiving that little message saying I couldn’t use it unless I upgraded (so frustrating!)

Did you know you can get a Free Trial of Canva Pro? You can try it for a month to see whether it’s worth it. Use the free trial as much as you can to your advantage!
